Pollyanna McIntosh grew up in Portugal and Colombia before returning to her native Scotland which is where she first started performing on stage in The Edinburgh Festival. She relocated to London at the age of 16 and soon started to become involved in indie filmmaking. Her first job that was paid was working as a stoner in Irvine Welsh's The Acid House (1998). She also performed as an actress and a director in theatre.
